Pharmacology Services
Translational Pharmacology Services for Drug Development in NHP Models
At Envol Biomedical, our pharmacology services are purpose-built for precision, speed, and scientific clarity—delivering the data you need to move confidently from discovery to IND-enabling studies. We specialize in the use of nonhuman primates (NHPs) to evaluate the effects of candidate therapies, leveraging advanced tools, surgical capabilities, and integrated analytics to generate high-quality, actionable insights.
We support both mechanistic pharmacology studies and disease model development, giving sponsors the flexibility to assess drug effects in normal physiology or in well-characterized translational models.

What Is Pharmacology at Envol?
Pharmacology is the study of how a drug interacts with a biological system. At Envol, this takes two primary forms:
- Drug Effect Assessment (Pharmacodynamic Studies)
We evaluate how a compound alters biological systems in real time. Using advanced biomarker analysis, imaging, and physiologic readouts, we quantify:
- Inflammatory markers
- Cytokine expression
- Cellular changes
- Functional endpoints
These studies may occur in healthy NHPs or in combination with induced disease phenotypes, depending on the program’s goals.
- Model-Based Disease Studies
We create or implement translational animal models that replicate key aspects of human disease. These include:
- Metabolic disease models (e.g., obesity, body composition)
- Inflammatory conditions
- Other custom phenotypes using adjuvants or surgical interventions
These models are paired with drug treatment to assess therapeutic efficacy against disease-relevant endpoints.
Tools and Capabilities Supporting Pharmacology
Our pharmacology work is enhanced by cross-functional services that accelerate timelines and increase data reliability:
- Surgical Capabilities: Complex dosing routes and serial sampling (e.g., vascular access ports, CNS delivery)
- Core Laboratory Services: Bioanalytical chemistry, immunoassays, cytokine profiling, ELISAs, PCR/ddPCR, and more
- Imaging: In vivo imaging to monitor physiological or anatomical drug effects
- Custom Model Development: Use of adjuvants and phenotype validation protocols
- Data Integration with Resero: Near real-time reporting and data analytics
Each study is tailored with a regulatory-aware mindset to ensure downstream success in preclinical development programs.
